Prior to this particular North Somerset conservatory roof project, the homeowner complained that their ageing polycarbonate conservatory roof was very noisy especially when it rained. This meant that they were reluctant to use the room as often as they would have liked. Because of the age of the roof, the conservatory was proving to be very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer.

The roof needed to be replaced and updated to something that would give the customer back the use of their conservatory, with no maintenance required and a long-term solution against the elements.

The process of converting a North Somerset conservatory roof

In the first instance, our installers removed the old polycarbonate sheets, allowing joists to be installed. A warm roof construction was then completed with the installation of a new roof deck.  Polycarbonate insulated recovery boards were laid over this and then the EPDM fleece backed rubber membrane laid over the whole roof area.

Of course, as it is a flat roof conservatory, the natural light still needed to flow into the room so a roof dome was installed to maintain the light, therefore, creating a light and pleasant living space with no noisy roof and no extreme temperatures.
