At Thermal Roof, in addition to our EPDM flat roofing membrane service, we also offer the Alwitra Evalon V Polymer compound roofing membrane. While it may sound like quite a complicated description of a product to many of you, let’s take a look at the benefits of this product and why we, at Thermal Roof, endorse it.

What is Alwitra Evalon?

This watertight membrane compound consists of VET (Vinyl Ethylene Acetate Terpolymer) and polyvinylchloride. It is a plasticiser free, flexible flat roofing membrane which offers outstanding waterproofing properties for flat roofs. In addition to flat roofs it can also be used for domed and pitched roof although our specialism is with flat roof refurbishment, replacement and new roofs. The key benefit of this product is that it is highly resistant to both adverse and extreme weather conditions and high environmental pollution.

Why use this product for your flat roof?

The trouble with other flat roofing solutions, such as felt and fibre glass, is that due to extremes in weather conditions (common in the UK), the materials used can crack. Once this happens, the roof is vulnerable to poor weather, in particular wind and rain. Water can leak into the cracks and before you know it, you have a leaking roof.

The Evalon membrane can withstand extreme changes in temperature and can last up to 50 years. It is compatible with bitumen, asphalt and other insulation materials and is suitable for both replacement and refurbishment projects as well as new builds.

Installation

The membrane comes in rolls and is fully bonded to the substructure. It can be laid over previous roofing systems although if there is damage to the original decking, it is advisable to have new materials laid although repairs can be carried out prior to laying the membrane. The seams of the membrane are welded together to provide a water tight and seamless surface.
